“Dreams Unlimited”: Happy to share an update on our project from “MyLittleBit” we started a year ago, for underprivileged girls to enter the workforce. We kickstarted an Integrated Skill Development program at 2 colleges, Dharmasagara College & Vishveshwarya College with a focus on girls in BA, BCom, BSc. We created a curriculum with TeamLease which was inserted in their regular schedule to get them industry-ready, covering critical aspects including Spoken English, Interview Readiness, Computer Literacy, Advanced Excel Skills, Basic Accounting.

After a great start and a run till March, the lockdown brought in a few bumps on the way with the exams postponed and a lot of anxiety with the job scenario not looking bright. The final year students finally finished their exams in September and along with TeamLease, we started the placement rounds for these girls. It gives an immense sense of satisfaction to all of us with the first 2 girls in the batch getting their placement offers from one of the leading ITES firms in Bengaluru.

It had indeed been a long journey from the inception of the idea of getting the ground level execution done. As always, any of these initiatives are only as good as the final outcome, which is getting jobs in hand. With uncertainties in the environment and avenues for jobs being unpredictable, it’s been great seeing the girls getting their first jobs.
