Renuka School students launch their website
It was a pleasant Thursday morning ushering in the Republic Day 2018. Incidentally, this happened to be our 7th year of engagement with the Renuka Govt. High School. The school has free education for kids from 8th-10th std. coming in from the poorest community. We set up a Computer Lab in 2010 to train basic computer literacy and it has always remained a place of curiosity for the kids.
Every year to enhance the computer literacy among students, an Annual PowerPoint contest is held for the students. This is taken up by the children very enthusiastically and they put in a lot of effort to create a good presentation. The children are encouraged to present this in English which has also helped them in their communication skills. The topics have ranged across the following: “My Ideal Hero”, “Ways to Save Kaikondrahalli Lake”, “How can I improve my School”, “If I were an Entrepreneur”.
This year was a bit different. We asked the children – how about letting the world know about their school. And sure enough they were all in!
So, the agenda for this year’s PowerPoint Contest was “Setting up the Renuka School Website” and the children were asked to take up one page each and come and present. This website content and flow is the outcome of the effort of the students and the Computer Teacher who helped bring this to life with the help of transferring the content to Word Press.
