In our seventh year at Reddy PU School in Bangalore, it was a moment of immense happiness as we gave scholarships to 30 under-privileged girls across the three years who are pursuing their higher education in BA, BCom and BSc. We track them continuously and mentor them to show them the North Star. We started this by raising funds through our Annual Charity Run and our aim has been to encourage girls to pursue higher education and not fall into the pressures to start contributing to the household income with an early job or early marriage.

It has been heartening to see the progress of some of these girls as they’ve finished their education, entered jobs in some of the large IT organizations, start-ups, become teachers and more. As goes the saying, you invest in educating a girl, and she goes on to change a generation, these girls surely walk that talk.
